The Team

Graduation loomed and three school friends needed a plan.

One of these was to once again indulge our passion for travel and head off, with a backpack, as had so often been done in the past when time and money allowed. However, with finances stretched we decided to satisfy our travel bug in a different way. Having been frequently disappointed at guide books' description of a hotel or a site and being completely powerless to do anything, the concept of our 'World Guide' was born.

So, three school friends who have over the years spent far too much time together embarked on an adventure.

Before starting my Engineering degree at Queens' College Cambridge I took a gap year(as we all did). At the beginning of the year I headed off to trek through the Himalayas with Jeremy. Eventually I found myself back in the UK gathering enough money for the next few trips, Australia and New Zealand, and then on to South America with Pip.

Following my Gap year four years of hard work started, which concluded with me studying in the Cambridge Computer Science department, but still studying for my masters in engineering. I had however found time during the summers to spend what little remained of my loan on the odd trip to South East Asia and cycling through Europe.

Me, well what can I say. I have done a reasonable amount of traveling including a 240km Trek in Nepal, a 12000km overland trip from Beijing to Bangkok, four weeks cycling the length of Croatia and a rather scary hitchhike across Taiwan, to name but a few of my foreign adventures.

After studying a very theoretical Engineering degree from Cambridge the world was full of opportunity. So, as you might have guessed the appeal of starting a Travel business probably outweighed my common sense. Surprisingly, my degree has been very useful, it developed skills that allowed me to easily construct and quantify strategies for the business in conjunction with the ability to implement the concepts. So, maybe starting a Travel business was an inspired move!

After a great deal of rowing at school (mainly with Jeremy) I went to East Africa and climbed Mounts Kenya and Kilimanjaro as well as a spot of safari and setting up camp on the beach at Mombasa. A longer time was spent in South America with Rob, having a go at ice climbing and a 3000km hitch hike along with Huyana Potosi, the Inca Trail and the thrills of surfing.

While I gained my MA in Philosophy (a break from undergraduate maths!) I stayed closer to home discovering what our Spanish and Scottish neighbours had to offer. I have started on the long road to a part-time PhD so I will have a great deal of time to venture further afield.
