Overview

Victoria Falls is also known as Mosi oa Tunya, or "the smoke that thunders". It is easy to see where this name came from, as most visitors hear the thundering waters and see the misty water-spray generated by the Falls long before they actually get to see the tumbling waters. Indeed at certain times of the year, it is hard to see beyond the water-spray as vast quantities of water descend into the gorge. Victoria Falls is the most impressive waterfall in the world, being higher and wider than Niagara Falls. Unsurprisingly, the tourist infrastructure at Victoria Falls has developed accordingly although the unstable political climate has hit the tourism industry here. However, Victoria Falls remains a sight to behold, and offers an array of activities to get your adrenaline pumping, from bungee-jumping, to white-water rafting with hippos and crocodiles. [Edit]
