This is a beautiful country offering so much to the adventure traveler. For those who want to live side by side with the big 5 (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo) and really get back to nature then there is no better place to stay then at the Fothergill Island Safari Lodge based on Lake Kariba. The safari lodge does exactly what it says on the tin. You take up residence in generous sized huts where there is more then enough room for even the traveler who brings the kitchen sink. The accommodation pound for pound is as brilliant as any 5 star hotel with en-suite bathroom facilities, solar heated outdoor water showers where if you look up your ceiling is the bluest sky, mosquito nets drape every bed and of course the much needed fan.

Now before you get worried that animals will be walking through the camp and you are likely to have breakfast with a lion, this camp unlike some has electric fences all around so you can be safe in the knowledge that you will not be tripping over any buffalo on your way back to your room.
