Overview
Some 60km west of Caracas you find the strange mountain town of Colonia Tovar. It was founded in 1843 by German settlers and since that time it was pretty much isolated from the rest of the world.
Today, Colonia Tovar is a unique sight: a German town in the mountains of Venezuela. Its markets and arts & craft stores are famous and are worth a visit, but the main sight is the original architecture.
