Overview

On the banks of the Orinoco and Caroni rivers. This is the industrial area of Venezuela. There are Steel and Aluminum smelters here due to the Guri Dam Hydro Electric faclilty where more than 75% of the Country´s electricity is produced. There is also a large Iron Ore deposit close by and this is transformed into high grade iron ore pellets in local factories. The bulk of the areas production is exported. The state of Bolivar is also rich in bauxite, gold, diamonds and varios kinds of clays for brick production.
