Overview
Newark is located in Central Ohio , about 40 miles east of Columbus . This proximity to the capital makes Newark attractive to visitors and residents. People in the area have access to all the comforts of the big city (concerts, restaurants, sports, shopping, etc.) while escaping the trappings of the big city. The birthplace of acclaimed jazz artist, Jon Hendricks, the father of vocalese, and the National Heisey Glass Museum , Newark offers a little something for everyone. Newark is the largest city and the county seat for Licking County.
