Impressive aspects of the natural world can easily be seen in these extensive locations. At the other end of the elevation spectrum lies North Carolina’s other major attraction, its coast. The visitor might like to hang-glide off sand dunes, explore the water around the Outer Banks which are barrier islands or admire a century old lighthouse. The wineries should not be ignored and neither should the Civil War sites in the last state to secede from the Union.
