Isle of Man
Overview
Certianly the most beautiful Island in the British Isles...the interior is like the Lakes/Moors, the coast is like Devon/Cornwall. What's not to love?! Quiet but a perfect escape to the country, being a different country, you certainly feel like you are getting away from it all. Loads of country type activities, however, not the place to go for an Ibiza type hol (not least because of the less than Meditteranean climate)
[Edit]History
The IOM isn't part of the UK, it's a crown dependancy which has it's own Parliament (Tynwald - the oldest continuous Government in the world in fact), and it known as a bit of a tax haven as the income tax is lots lower than the UK - tax exiles, take note. Easiest way to get there - Fly from London/Liverpool/Manchester/Birmingham, several oher areas too, try www.manxflights.com. Boat sails from Heysham/Liverpool/Dublin www.steam-packet.com
