Alicante
Overview
Alicante is part of the Valencia region. It is one of the most popular tourist areas in Spain. Near Alicante you can find mountains, castles, forests, etc. There are numerous places to explore as Upper Marina, with the towns of Jávea, Teulada, Benitachell and Calpe. Lower Marina includes the tourist centre of Benidorm , as well as beautiful Altea and Villajoyosa.
The beaches of Alicante are great and some interesting monuments such as Santa Barbara Castle, Monastery of Santa Faz, the Cathedral, the Archaeeological Museum, Church of Santa Maria and the Modern Art Museum are all worth a visit. The view from the Santa Barbara Castle is incredible. It is located high above the city. After the hike up and back down, a nice rest on the beach is wonderful. Alicante is also a good place for shopping and has an interesting nightlife, although tourists tend to go wild in Benidorm or other beach resorts nearby.
