Most airlines fly into Singapore Changi International Airport. You can come to Singapore easily from almost every city in the world.
By road, the ways in are the 2 Causeway (Tuas and Woodlands Checkpoints) linking Singapore from Johor, Malaysia. Trains also operate into Singapore from Malaysia through the Woodlands Checkpoint.
Few tourist arrived into Singapore via sea. Most of them will arrived from Indonesia or Malaysia into Singapore via the HabourFront Cruise Centre or the Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal.
You could take a subway from Terminal 2 to the city if you wanted to save some cost. Most budget hotels are located at Bencoolen street, just get off from City Hall station, it will take you about 30-35mins walk if not catch the public bus service No 36, it will bring you to the city too, tell the driver that you want to get off at the National library, it take you about 15-20 mins walk.
