Overview

Captain Cook landed here first when he reache New Zealand, but it is unlikely that the modern visitor will be as nonplussed as he was. The area is probably the best chardonnay producer in new Zealand and it is certainly possible to visit some wineries. There are also ample oppurtunities to discover more about the Maori people and local flora and fauna.
