Auckland
Overview
The largest metropoitan population in New Zealnd is found in this city that in fact covers more than fifty islands. The Asian and Polynesian immigrants amongst others make the city the country's most cosmopolitan, and the visitor can get a gentle introducion to these cultures from their influence within the city. The geographical location unsurprisingly results in a great deal of water activity and the name "city of sails" is frequently used. Watersports are not the only on offer and the visitor need travel for only thirty minutes before being able to experience an entirely different set of activites. This is also the case for those interested in the natural world but the socially keen will not be disappointed either by the nightlife.
