Finale Ligure

Overview

The Finalese occupies the region between Cape Caprazoppa, westwards, and Cape Noli, eastwards. It is crossed from two torrents, Pora and Sciusa, that originate two valleys divided by the offshoots of Gottardo. The high grounds are rocky, with leaning walls rich in cavities and caves frequented in prehistorical period, as shown by many remains preserved in the Civic Museum of Finale, prepared in the rooms of the former monastery of Santa Caterina at Finalborgo. The most important, among which those of Arene Candide, of Arma delle Manie and of Pollera were Ligurian people's shelters before the Roman conquest.
