Amritsar
Overview
Amritsar like many of the Punjabs major cities is full of the hussle and bussle of life in India. Don't be afraid of the traffic, if someone honks a horn it is as likely to be to say overtaking/I like your car/My cars better etc as anything else. Special tip: If crossing a road just make sure everyone can see you and walk slowly and purposefully to the other side. The traffic should avoid you. Not for the feint of heart!
Amritsar, the home of the Golden Temple. This is a must see if you travel to Northern India. An amazing place to meditate and feel a part of culture as they recommend you move round the temple as part of the everyday crowd. It is also spectacular as it is entirely coated in gold on the outside and the inside is intricately decorated and rather than the hands off approach of a museum you are allowed to touch, move and sit on whatever you like. One word of warning, this is a religious place so ensure you are respectful and that means women should cover up so take a headscarf.
