Keflavík
Overview
Keflavik is a small town (as are almost all Icelandic towns) on a peninsula in the southwest corner. I lived there (more exactly, on a military base there) for 12 months (1985-1986). I found the people friendly, the wind very cold, and the "hot springs" a wonderful place to swim when the wind chill is -40F. The most popular spot, by far, in the area is referred to as the "Blue Lagoon".
Iceland in general is a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to spend another year there. If you like mutton, small poultry, and fish (Ysa (haddock), which tastes like cod; Salmon; mutton from a very rough looking goat-like creature (also known as sheep); Puffin, a bird which only resides on an island off the coast). When I was there, the country was VERY formally Lutheran. Fish on Friday... everywhere... don't like fish? Tough!
