From the official website of Ghana, it appears that visas are available on arrival from countries without a mission or consulate; and even those from places like the UK and US where Ghana has Consulates are, in practice, offered the courtesy of an on-arrival visa. While it is less expensive and more convienent to have a visa in your passport when you arrive, don't let the lack of a visa stop you from making the trip, as you will not be denied entry as long as you have proof on onward transportaton.
