Overview

Located on the banks of the Danube, Regensburg with its 125.000 inhabitants, is both a modern Bavarian city and still a medieval wonder. For more than 600 years - from 1245 till 1803, when Napoleon came - Regensburg has been a free imperial city and a buzzling trade and cultural centre. Lots of the medieval architecture survived the centuries and even the devastations of Second World War. Regensburg is a historic city in a unique state of preservation, living witness to two thousand years of rich and colourful history. At every turn one encounters truly outstanding historical monuments and architectural marvels.
