Kiel

Overview

Kiel is the state capitol of Schleswig-Holstein and some 250.000 people live here whereas many travelers visit Kiel on their way to Scandinavia. Offering ferry connections to may countries on the Baltic Sea Kiel permanently has foreign visitors and maintains good relationships to these countries which results in a good cultural mix. Shopping opportunities are quite good.

The main tourist event is each years "Kieler Woche" (Kiel Week) which attracts hundreds of sailing boats, large ships and usually takes place by the end of June.

History
