Saint-Malo

Overview

Saint Malo is a charming little town on the coast of Brittany. It was a major nest of pirates for centuries and the thick city walls date from that period. The pirates of Saint Malo would be seen on the coasts of Morocco, Brazil and Iceland.

The town is a bit touristy nowadays, with many painters wanting to paint your portrait, but is still very nice. Good shopping opportunities and a good starting point for exploring the places and beaches in the neighbourhood of Saint Malo.

From Saint Malo you can take a ferry boat to Jersey and Guernsey . It is possible to see the islands as daytrips if you rise early.
