Overview

This double university city has many sporting activities on offer from the more sedae fishing to the mroe energetic rowing and hiking. The amusement park at Sarkanniemi has many attractions in addition to rides: the largest aquarium in Finland and dolphin shows for example. The city is a major transport interchange, so there is a constant flow of people. The museums cover a range of interesting subjects including Lenin, Ice hockey, Moomins and dolls! Architecturally there is a dominance of 19th century industrial buildings due to the textile industries.
