Dili

UNRATED
[Edit]

Overview

Dili, in 1991 still the site of massacres, slowly regained its peace again. With the help of the UN and several aid projects, it managed to revive some of its former character - though scarred for life.

The Mercado Municipal, the central market, is the 'commercial' heart of the city. There are some remnants of the Portuguese colonial time, some nice beaches and many Catholic churches. Most people arrive from Timor by bus.
