Overview

Cres is a long narrow mountainous island filled with many pebbly beaches, rock outcrops and step sided coves. Crew town surrounds a filled harbour in the summer months, and the pastel coloured hotels, restaurants and shops that surround the harbour manage to maintain a calm atmosphere even though the streets throng with tourists in the summer months. There are very few hotels in town so your best bet is to go for the moderately priced private accommodation on offer from the tourist office. Otherwise the huge auto-camp located approximately 1km from the town is the only option.
