Leticia Getting There & Away

Getting There & Away

By Plane To get into this spectacular, tropical and adventurous town from Colombia, you only can do it by airplane; the first thing to do is getting to El dorado international airport in Bogota, because it is the only destination that is served by a commercial airline, then connect with an Aerorepublica flight to Leticia. The flight costs approximately 200 USD. It lasts 2 hours. During the flight you can enjoy almost all the time the view on the Amazonian rain forest under you.

By Boat From Peru you may take a rapido (speedboat) to Tabatinga (Brazil) or Santa Rosa(Peru) straight from Iquitos. This will take you approx. 9 - 10h and cost you around US$ 50 to 60,--.

City itself is not big, has only something above 20000 inhabitants. There is a very interesting museum of indigenous cultures at Amazonas region, which is situated in the library building.

From Leticia you can make a trip to the Amacayacu national park . There you can find a really well organized tourist centre and serve as a starting point/overnight point for trips into around the park, or boat trips around Amazonas. It's better to buy a pre-organized package in Bogota in any travel agency.
