7 Sages Hostel

The usual offerings of a good youth hostel (meeting you at the train station, helpful staff etc). This place has a lovely setting though. Pretty courtyards with traditional circular archways, nice simple food (mix of Chinese and some Western), intimate bar and chill out area, internet and very decent, fairly spacious rooms make this hostel a great place to stay on a budget. (Rooms between 4-18USD)

The hostel is in a classic Chinese row of houses. The property has been in existence for 100 years.

The original site contained 10 courts and the hostel is in court numbers 5 & 6. In the modern history, it was also the command post for one of the renowned red army troops based in Xian. It went through a period of being an underground revolution activities post, a red army liaison office and a reception centre for people involved in the war fighting against Japanese during the first half of last century. A memoral museum is just next to the hostel within the same compound.
