Adelaide is the capital city of South Australia. Its population is slightly over 1 million, which makes it by far the largest city in the otherwise sparsely populated state. It has a liberal, calm feeling about it. The former from the state's relaxed views on certain activities and the latter because there is no sense of the city trying to prove itself. It is secure in the knowledge that it is a particularly pleasant destination. There is immense scope for bicycle or walking trips and the chance to properly relax once those are over. The atmosphere is that of a small town, but although it is not in any way small, it has not taken on the hustle and bustle which are typical trappings of a city this size.
