Brisbane

Overview

A good base for several of Main Queensland's attractions. This former colony for the more difficult convicts certainly has its uses. As the visitor will come to expect, the surrounding countryside is stunning, but, unusually, despite the proximity to the sea, it is the river that plays a great part in Brisbane life. Importantly, the city is throwing off its reputation as a rather backwards rural area and is very much a city proper.
