Gladstone

Overview

Gladstone is an industrial port city about 6 hours drive north of Brisbane . It is a good entry point to the southern end of the great barrier reef which extends about 1000 kilometers all the way up to Cairns . Check out the Marina and hit the pubs at night. Its worth a look if your travelling north.

A nice place to spend a couple of hours is the Tondoon Botanic Gardens, on the southern outskirts of the city; there's a kiosk, picnic tables and a children's playground.
