Africa
Overview
Africa, the location for the origins of the human race, is a vast continent with contrasting topography, vegetation and wildlife.
North Africa, which was the southern extent of the Roman Empire still has many well preserved ancient sites. The area is now heavily influence by Arabic culture, the medina of Marrakesh and bazaars of Cairo are an enlightening introduction to the regional lifestyle.
Lying beneath the seemingly endless Sahara desert are the jungles and rainforests of West and Central Africa. Unfortunately, the majority of the nations which make up these regions are undergoing serious political turmoil and are hence dangerous destinations.
The eastern and southern extents of the continent are the habitats for some of the world's most magnificent creatures. The elusive mountain gorillas which nest in the misty Rwenzori Mountains and the animals which roam the grasslands of the Masai Mara are worth seeing with your own eyes. There are also opportunities to experience the traditional ways of life which have lasted despite former colonial rule.
Africa offers many destinations which provide an experience that cannot be found elsewhere.
