Domestic Flights There are regular domestic flights by the state airline Ariana (www.flyariana.com) to Herat in the west and Mazar-e Sharif in the north. The national airline has gone through a period of great change lately and is now quite punctual - about 81% leaving and arriving on time. By Road There's a fleet of minibuses and shared cars that link the country - each city has it's own place for the cars / minibuses depatures - you can ask pretty much any of the locals. Travel tends to be quite cheap - about $5 from Kabul to Kunduz for example. The cars fill up a little quicker, are a bit faster, and a little more expensive. Since the completion of the national highway program in 2005 travel between the cities is quite smooth. International Organisations Sometimes you can find NGOs and organisations willing to give foreigners a lift from one city to another. If you know people around then it might be a good idea to ask them if they know anyone planning a trip in a certain direction. Security Just as with anywhere else, it's always good to take local advice on the issue.
